Internal wall insulation (IWI) involves fitting insulation boards or systems to the inner face of external walls. It is used where cavity wall insulation is not suitable, such as solid wall properties or those with narrow or filled cavities.
Solid wall properties can lose up to 45% of their heat through uninsulated walls. IWI provides a way to dramatically improve thermal performance without altering the external appearance.
Careful attention to thermal bridging at junctions
Correct vapour control measures
Integration with existing services and openings
Minimal disruption to property occupants
