    What It Is

Thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) let each radiator regulate the temperature of the room it serves, closing down once the space reaches the set level. Fitting or replacing TRVs is a low disruption heating measure that reduces overheating in unused rooms and works alongside a room thermostat and programmer to make an existing wet heating system far more controllable.

    Why It Matters

Without TRVs, every radiator runs at the same output whenever the heating is on, so bedrooms, hallways and spare rooms are heated to the same level as living space. Adding valve level control means the system only puts heat where it is wanted, which reduces waste without asking the occupant to change how they live.

    • Stops unused rooms being heated unnecessarily
    • Complements a room thermostat and programmer
    • Fast, low cost measure with minimal disruption
    • Frequently specified alongside insulation and heating control upgrades
