Floor insulation treats heat loss through the ground floor. For suspended timber floors it is usually fitted between the joists from below or by lifting boards; solid floors are assessed separately. Ventilation under the floor is kept so the timber stays dry.
An uninsulated floor lets heat escape and draughts in. Treating the floor improves comfort in ground floor rooms and complements loft and wall insulation.
